2009 Season

Julie,

I wanted to say thanks for an excellent year. I thought you did an outstanding job dealing with the many circumstances that arose during 2009.

We were all dealt harsh blows for many different reasons in 2009. The loss of Skeeter, the loss of jobs, lower turn out and the loss of a fellow competitor who fished with BigBucks for many years.  BIgBucks dealt with these issues in a way that has only made the tournament stronger and more respected. I hope even more new comers will join in with us for the 2010 season to see how great this trail has become. I also hope others come back to BigBucks who have decided to move elsewhere. This past season was one hell of a great year.

Everyone knows how difficult the financial situation was for a championship location and a payout. It was no easy task and left some very difficult decisions to be made. You dealt with the issues in way that leaves me with a new respect of your business practices. Clearly, you not only overcame a difficult situation but improved on the past leaving us a high level of future expectations. That's great!!! Skeeter may or may not come back?  But regardless of what happens with Skeeter no one has any questions as to the quality of a Championship that will be put on by you in the future.

This may sound like a bunch brown nosing love but you deserve it. And I wanted everyone to know that I think you did a great job. I love fishing in bass tournaments and everything BigBucks does helps me to enjoy my favorite pass time.

Thanks for everything and being fair to everyone who joined in for 2009!!!

Championship 2009

Congrats to Brad Rubin and Matt Vose for the great win at Green Lake!! This team did their homework and it paid off! Not too long ago Brad was a student
in my chemistry class at Stevenson HS who convinced me to take him bass fishing---he has learned the sport well. Congrats too to Julie and her gang
for conducting a well-run event---and for Stu Martel for putting up the extra cash for big bass each day. Dave and I certainly appreciated the extra cash for Dave's hawg.

My sympathies to the Bill Hogle family---Bill was a classy guy---we will
miss seeing him on the water. Ron Urick

PS--Stu ---on a minor note Dave and I had 5-- not 6 fish on Day Two.

Tuesday 9-29 , we all lost a great friend in Bill Hogle , Bill loved to fish Lake Geneva & loved being part of the Big Bucks gang . the wake will be friday 10-2 in Darien ,il. at modell funeral home ,7710 s. cass ave . from 4-8 p.m. . Julie Hogle asked for all of Bills fishig friends that attend to wear your tourament shirt to honor Bills love for fishing .

Green Lake Update!!!

Well its 4:45am Friday morning and some guys, including me are already milling about getting ready for the first day of competition..

Practice has been OK with a report or two of some big fish, fish over 6lbs have been caught over the past couple of days. Most are not talking about their practice for obvious reasons.

The weather has been crazy up here, Monday winds blew hard with gusts over 40 but have settled down a bit to 10/20. The heavy rain for today looks to have mostly moved out and should not be to much of headache for us. There was one report of a boat stabbing a wave earlier in the week. I heard the boater underpants is still drying on the shower head of the hotel room!!! Thank God he's fine!!!

Julie hosted a wonderful dinner last night. I want to say thanks for such a great meeting and I look forward to the rest of the time here on Green Lake.

From what I've seen on the water and the dock talk, my prediction is that it will take 23lbs+ daily to win it. I will post the first day results tonight some time. So check back in for the update.

I noticed 3 teams that qualified for the classic have less total weight than us. Im just wondering if the qualification rules have changed or something. This is how I read them: How to qualify for the Championship

A team must enter all the tournaments in the division
A team could win a divisional tournament
A team could finish in the top 9 in total weight (if a team in the top 9 has already qualified then the next team will take their place)
All teams that did not qualify but fished in all the divisional tournaments will be eligible for the wild card drawing. This drawing will take place immediately following the last tournament in that division.

Green Lake Inn

Hey Guys,

I just spent the night at Green Lake Inn for a little practice time. Tough Bite!

I wanted everyone to know how great of deal it is. Its the right price, weeknights of 49.00 and within a mile from multiple launches.

The lady who runs this place is great. She must of seen/heard me out in the lot rigging on my boat at 4:45am and she got up to make me coffee. I asked her if she could turn on the parking lot lights and she did. Plenty of outlets to work with. Bring lots of extension cords as some might have to park 100 feet or more away from the outlets. I'm scheduled over at the Hiedel House for tourney week but I'm thinking of moving over here for a few nights to save some money.

I give this place 5 stars for being affordable, very clean and super convenient.

Great place!
